Urgent: New Russian-US crew blasts off for space station
MOSCOW, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) — The rocket carrying a new Russian- US crew was launched Thursday morning from Russia’s cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, heading for the International Space Station (ISS) on a six-month mission.
The Soyuz TMA-5, which blast off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 7:06 a.m. Moscow time (0306 GMT), carried Russian cosmonauts Salizhan Sharipov and Yuri Shargin, and Leroy Chiao of the United States to the orbiting space hub.
The spacecraft is set to dock with the space station at 8:24 a. m. Moscow time (0424 GMT) Saturday morning.
