Moscow, 28 October: The crew of the International Space Station (ISS) - a Russian national Salizhan Sharipov and [NASA] astronaut Leroy Chiao - "will undergo two-hours' training today to check the readiness of on-board equipment in case of an emergency evacuation", an official representative of Mission Control Centre (MCC), Valeriy Lyndin, has told an ITAR-TASS correspondent.
"Right after their arrival from the Earth, newcomers go through the so-called route for emergency evacuations in case of a possible depressurization of the station or a fire," sources at the MCC said. [Passage omitted]
"Drills of this kind are a routine business, and they are conducted regularly on board the ISS," sources at the MCC noted.
