Scolese to Be NASA Associate Administrator
National Aeronautics and Space Administration Associate Administrator Rex Geveden Wednesday announced he will leave the space agency at the end of July.
Geveden, who will join Teledyne Technologies as president of Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, Ala., will be succeeded by Christopher Scolese in the space agency’s No. 3 position.
Geveden joined NASA in 1990 and has served the past year as associate administrator. He previously held several NASA posts, including agency chief engineer, deputy director of the Marshall Space Flight Center, and program manager for the Gravity Probe B mission.
In the course of my 36 years in the aerospace business, I have yet to work with a finer individual than Rex Geveden, said NASA Administrator Michael Griffin. He possesses one of the most agile minds I have encountered and combines it with a big picture view that has been invaluable.
Scolese, who currently serves as NASA’s chief engineer, joined the space agency in 1987. He previously served as deputy director of the Goddard Space Flight Center and as deputy associate administrator in the Office of Space Science, among other positions.
