Garmin 620 Versus Adidas Micoach by HRWC
Garmin Forerunner 620 is vastly superior to the new Adidas Micoach as a running watch according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.

Garmin Forerunner 620 was announced a month ago as the new standard in running watches and it still remains that according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.
Adidas just announced a new watch called the Adidas Micoach but it falls short of being able to really help you improve your running when compared to the Garmin 620," says Rusty Squire, three-time All-American, World Record holder and President of the Heart Rate Watch Company.
No Run Oscillation or Ground Contact Time
"The new Adidas has no run oscillation, which helps you control your wasted energy and vertical bounce," says Squire. He adds, "It also lacks for any feature to show foot ground contact time, which is another key feature for improving run efficiency."
"The watch has no VO2 max feature and I am still very suspect that heart rate from the wrist is anywhere near as consistently accurate as heart rate from the chest because that is where the heart is," says Squire.
Much Heavier and Bulkier
The Adidas Micoach watch weighs 2.8 ounces nearly double the weight of the Forerunner 620. "Over the course of a marathon that means, with 18,000 arm swings, you are moving an additional 1,350 pounds of extra weight compared to the Garmin 620", says Squire. He adds, "The watch is also much bulkier at close to twice the thickness of the Garmin 620."
"At the end of the day it is not even close here and the Garmin Forerunner 620 is a far better watch for runners, hands down," says Squire. He adds, "Once I saw the specifications and features of the Micoach we wouldn't even consider carrying it in our store, it's just not close to the best technology."
"The watch look like it was built by TomTom, but even the TomTom Runner GPS watch is a full ounce lighter than the Micoach," says Squire. He adds, "It's a first attempt and perhaps Adidas will get better but for right now it is vastly inferior to the Garmin Forerunner 620 and it costs almost as much."
"Our recommendation for our customers is to pass on this one and buy a Garmin 620 as it is a far better choice," says Squire. He adds, "You can call us at 866-586-7129 and talk to a real expert about all your fitness watch needs because we test all the products and know what works best."
