Reports: Confusion About Isiah Thomas
There were conflicting reports Friday about whether former New York Knicks Coach Isiah Thomas was being treated for a drug overdose.
ESPN said a 46-year-old man was taken from Thomas’ suburban New York home and treated for an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. Thomas is 47 but family members said the man who was hospitalized was not the hall of fame guard.
However, New York television station WCBS reported Friday afternoon that Thomas it was Thomas who overdosed. The TV station said Thomas was rushed to White Plains Hospital for treatment, but his condition is not yet known.
“Isiah Thomas spoke with members of the New York Knicks organization and is OK,” the team said in a statement. “He is dealing with a family matter and we will have no further comment.”
New York Newsday had reported that Harrison, N.Y., police declined to identify the person who overdosed.
Thomas lives in Purchase, N.Y.
He was fired April 18 by Knicks President Donnie Walsh after a coaching the Knicks to a record of 56-108 over two seasons.
