UNC forward done with wrist injury

A left wrist injury will sideline North Carolina freshman forward Tyler Zeller for the rest of the 2008-09 college basketball season.

The 7-foot, 220-pound native of Washington, Ind., suffered the injury in Tuesday night's 77-58 rout by the top-ranked Tar Heels of Kentucky. With 1:26 remaining, Zeller was attempting a breakaway dunk but missed and landed on the wrist after a hard foul by Wildcats' forward Ramon Harris.

He left the floor under his own power but was obviously in a great deal of pain.

Zeller scored 2 points in his second straight start in the absence of injured all-America forward Tyler Hansbrough (shin).

It doesn't look good, North Carolina Coach Roy Williams said about Zeller's injury after the contest. It doesn't give us a good feeling right now.

No details were disclosed about Hansbrough's status or his possible replacement for North Carolina's next contest Monday at Chaminade.
