COL BKB: Michigan State. 70, IFPW 59
Raymar Morgan’s 22 points with six rebounds Wednesday led seventh-ranked Michigan State to a 70-59 win over stubborn Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne.
MSU led 32-24 at the break, but five straight points by Ben Botts gave IFPW a 35-32 lead with 17:05 remaining.
The Big Ten powerhouse regained control from that point, and ended the contest with a 38-24 run.
Its biggest lead was 65-52 with 1:07 left.
Kalin Lucas had 17 points and three assists, but no other player scored in double digits for the Spartans (2-0), who have won their first two games as they shoot for their 12th straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Botts’ 22 points led IFPW.
David Carson scored 17, while Deilvez Yearby added 10 points and six rebounds for the Mastadons (0-2), who played their second straight contest without star senior guard Jakari Johnson.
