COL BKB: Memphis 83, Chattanooga 71
Doneal Mack scored 19 points Thursday to lead No. 12th Memphis to an 83-71 win over Chattanooga at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Mack's layup created a 13-13 tie with 11:20 left in the first half, and led a surge to a 47-35 advantage at the break. Chattanooga faced a double digit deficit the rest of the contest.
Robert Dozier scored 18 points with eight rebounds and four assists. Shawn Taggart scored 16 with 11 rebounds, while Mack also had four assists for the Tigers (3-0), last season's national runner-up to national champion Kansas.
Chattanooga was led by Stephen McDowell's game-high 27 points. Nicchaeus Doaks added 15 points and a game-best 16 rebounds for the Mocs (0-3), who had suffered double digit losses (114-75 at Tennessee and 103-75 at Missouri) before Thursday's setback.
