COL BKB: Pittsburgh 86, Akron 67

Sam Young scored 26 points Friday in leading No. 6 Pittsburgh to an 86-67 win over Akron and into the finals of the Legends Classic.

Levance Fields added 19 points with seven assists and DeJuan Blair had 16 points and 13 rebounds in helping the Panthers improve to 3-0.

Pittsburgh will meet Indiana (Pa.) in the tournament finals Saturday.

Akron (2-1) got 23 points from Brett McKnight. The Zips had beaten Canisius and Winthrop to open the season.

Pittsburgh built a 45-27 halftime lead and went up by 20 points for the first time on Blair's layup to open the second period.

The Panthers have won 31 straight games against non-conference opponents at the Petersen Events Center.
