Greyhound electrocuted in freak accident
Investigators have determined a freak accident caused the electrocution of a greyhound at a Florida dog track.
The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel said Tuesday that state investigators ruled the greyhound’s death to be an accident that occurred when the dog was bumped during a race, slid under the inside rail and came into contact with the electrical source that powers the target the dogs chase.
General Manager Mark Loewe told the newspaper that workers at the Sanford Orlando Kennel Club couldn’t remember a similar incident for nearly 40 years.
The Sentinel said the incident occurred Nov. 17 during the 12th race.
