Chauncey Billups scored 28 points and J.R. Smith hit five 3-pointers for Denver Sunday in a 104-94 win over the Houston Rockets.
Billups also posted five assists and Smith, who was 5-of-9 from three-point range, totaled 19 points in the Nuggets’ eighth win in 10 games.
Yao Ming scored 18 points and collected 11 rebounds for the Rockets. Rafer Alston added 16 points and Ron Artest blocked six shots.
Houston played without star Tracy McGrady, sidelined with a knee injury. Denver’s Carmelo Anthony left the game after the first half with an elbow injury.
