Jay Cutler threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns Sunday as the Denver Broncos dropped Kansas City 24-17 and closed in on the AFC West championship.
The victory at Mile High Stadium means Denver (8-5) needs one win or a loss by second-place San Diego (5-8) in the next three games to wrap up the division title.
Cutler completed 32-of-40 passes against the Chiefs with one interception. Brandon Marshall caught 11 passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns, and Tony Scheffler had 61 yards receiving for the Broncos, who racked up 425 yards of total offense and converted 9-of-14 third downs.
Kansas City (2-11) totaled 260 yards of offense.
Chiefs quarterback Tyler Thigpen was 17-of-32 for 187 yards and one touchdown. Dwayne Bowe caught seven passes for 96 yards and tight Tony Gonzalez had 73 yards with a touchdown.
