Report: McCoy to return to Texas for 2009

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy will return for his senior season with the Longhorns, the Heisman Trophy candidate said Monday.

I'm not going anywhere, McCoy told the Austin (Texas) American-Statesman.

Texas finished one spot shy of the BCS title game, having finished the regular season ranked third in the BCS rankings. McCoy, who led the Longhorns to an 11-1 record and Fiesta Bowl berth this season, said he wants to play for a national title.

I'm coming back because we have a solid coaching staff, he said. And I'm coming back because I feel like I can develop the young receivers we have.

McCoy completed 77.6 percent of his pass attempts this season, throwing for 3,445 yards and 32 touchdowns against only seven interceptions. He was also Texas' leading rusher, with 576 yards and 10 TDs.

Texas will play Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl Jan. 5 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
