Woman, 29, dies after marathon collapse

A 29-year-old woman collapsed during a Dallas marathon and was pronounced dead nearly 20 minutes later, the race director said.
Marcus Grunewald, director of the 39-year-old Dallas White Rock Marathon, said Erin Lahr's death Sunday was the first in the event since 1986, The Dallas Morning News said Monday.
The exact cause of death in Lahr's case had not been determined and an autopsy was pending, the Morning News said.
Witnesses to Lahr's collapse said the woman appeared to be running fine until she suddenly stumbled and, after being helped to a nearby curb, lost consciousness.
Her body was cold,
witness Erica Sethi said. She was already gone.
Grunewald told the Morning News that due to the marathon's 66-degree weather, higher than the race's average, medical aid and water were readily available along the race route.
Grunewald said a 47-year-old man collapsed after suffering a heart attack and died during the 1986 marathon.
