Steve Nash had 21 points Monday night and the Suns beat New York 111-103 in former Suns’ coach Mike D’Antoni’s return to Phoenix.

Nash iced the victory with a three-pointer with under 29 seconds remaining. Amare Stoudamire finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds, Shaquille O’Neal had 23 points and 12 boards and Jason Richardson scored 16 for the Suns, who have won four of their last five games.

The Knicks, playing in Phoenix for the first time under D’Antoni, got 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists from Nate Robinson, while Al Harrington scored 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Suns fans gave D’Antoni a standing ovation before the game. After the Knicks fell to 2-2 on their five-game road trip, D’Antoni swapped hugs with Nash and Stoudamire.

D’Antoni resigned as Suns coach after the team lost to San Antonio in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs last season, and then took the Knicks job.

Phoenix put together a 10-0 first-quarter run and took a 62-51 halftime lead. The Suns were up 108-103 with less than a minute left when Nash put the game away with his last-minute trey.
