Brady Hoke takes San Diego State job

December 16, 2008

Brady Hoke, who coached Ball State’s football team to 12 victories this season, has been named head coach at San Diego State.

Aztec Athletic Director Jeff Schemmel made the announcement Tuesday.

Hoke, 50, signed a five-year contract with the California school, where he replaces the fired Chuck Long.

San Diego State had a 2-10 season and Long was let go the day after it ended.

Ball State finished 12-1 and will play in the GMAC Bowl Jan. 6 against Tulsa.

Hoke, a Ball State graduate, became the Cardinals’ coach in December of 2002.
