Eric Staal scored twice for the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday in a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
Carolina had 11 power plays and scored on three of them, ending a two-game slide.
The Hurricanes' Joe Corvo scored on a second-period slapshot that turned out to be the game-winner.
Carolina goalie Cam Ward had 22 saves.
Alex Kovalev and Guillaume Latendresse scored for the Canadians, who have lost three straight games. Montreal goalie Jarslav Halak blocked 24 shots.
