COL BKB: Ohio State 71, Iona 53

Evan Turner scored 21 points Saturday, keying a 71-53 victory by 16th-ranked Ohio State over Iona College.


His only three-pointer created a 31-31 tie with 17:15 left in the second half.


After its stubborn early effort, Iona trailed by only 28-24 at the break, but following Turner’s trey, Ohio State won the second-half scoring output 43-29.


John Diebler scored 16 points and made four of OSU’s seven steals.


William Buford scored 10 with five rebounds, and Turner added six rebounds for the unbeaten Buckeyes (8-0), who have won six in a row at home.


They made 11-of-17 field goal attempts in the second half and forced 16 turnovers, which led to 23 points.


Alejo Rodriguez led Iona with 17 points and 11 rebounds.


Jonathan Huffman had 14 points and seven rebounds, but no other player scored in double figures Gales (4-7), who have lost six of their last eight contests.
