Browns continue coaching, GM search
The Cleveland Browns spoke with New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Friday about their head coaching vacancy.
Team owner Randy Lerner has plans to interview two members of the Browns’ organization — defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and director of player personnel T.J. McCreight — and earlier this week he spoke with Patriots vice president Scott Piolifor for the job of general manager.
Also in the coaching hunt are fired New York Jets coach Eric Mangini and New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo in Lerner’s ongoing effort to replace Romeo Crennel, who was fired on Dec. 29 following a disappointing 4-12 season.
Lerner followed the NFL’s Rooney Rule by making Tucker the first minority candidate to get an interview.
Sources told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that it was unclear if Lerner will hire a GM first then a new coach and he has not commented.
