Report: Police nab ex-Giants receiver
Former New York Giants wide receiver Mark Ingram is in custody in Flint, Mich., after evading police for a month, the Flint Journal reported.
Ingram failed to turn up at a federal prison in Kentucky Dec. 5 after his conviction on bank fraud and money laundering charges last September and had been on the run.
Federal prosecutors claimed he tried to launder $100,000 for people he thought were drug dealers in an FBI sting operation.
The newspaper said Ingram was captured without incident at a hotel room in Flint, near his home in Grand Blanc, and that his arrest came just before Alabama’s 31-17 loss to Utah in the Sugar Bowl.
His son, Mark Jr., is a star running back for the Crimson Tide.
The elder Ingram, 42, had sought a delay in his 8-year prison sentence to watch the contest.
He played on the Giants’ 1991 Super Bowl championship team, and since he retired in 1996, he spent time in jail for various crimes.
