Report: Surgery to idle Singh for 5 weeks
Vijay Singh, in Hawaii for a tournament, will undergo knee surgery and miss about five weeks of competition, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin reported Wednesday.
Singh will have a torn meniscus repaired, the newspaper reported, citing sources.
The 45-year-old Singh is ranked No. 5 in the world.
Singh is entered in the Mercedes-Benz Championship — the PGA’s season-opener — starting Thursday at Kapalua on the island of Maui, but has pulled out of next week’s Sony Open in Hawaii, the newspaper said.
Singh won the tour’s FedExCup championship in 2008, along with three tournaments: the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, The Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championship.
