COL BKB: Michigan St. 78, Penn St. 73

Kalin Lucas made four free throws in the last minute to blunt a Penn State charge Wednesday and bring Michigan State a 78-73 win over the Nittany Lions.

The 10th-ranked Spartans won their 10th straight game and remained unbeaten in Big Ten Conference play.

Michigan State closed the first half on a 19-7 run to take a 42-29 advantage at the break and then led by 17 early in the second period.

Penn State, however, closed to within one on a three-pointer by Talor Battle with 1:30 to play.

Lucas then led the Spartans' parade to the free throw line, hitting four of Michigan State's seven foul shots over the final 53 seconds.

The Spartans did not make a field goal during the game's final 5:33.

Michigan State (14-2, 4-0 Big Ten) was led by Raymar Morgan with 17 points and Lucas with 15. The Nittany Lions lost for the third time in four games after winning five in a row. Jamelle Cornley scored 26 for Penn State (13-5, 2-3).
