NBA: Miami 102, Milwaukee 99
Daequan Cook made six three-point shots and hit four key free throws down the stretch Wednesday, allowing Miami to edge Milwaukee 102-99.
Cook scored 24 points and Michael Beasley had 21 in what was the third Miami victory in four games. The win came on a relatively quiet night from Dwyane Wade, who entered the game leading the league with 29.1 points per contest but was held to 17.
Wade made only five field goals in 20 attempts, but he contributed 13 assists. Milwaukee was led by Luke Ridnour with 25 points.
The Bucks were trailing by two and had the ball with a half minute remaining, but Shawn Marion blocked a shot by Richard Jefferson and Cook followed with two free throws.
Milwaukee again closed within two on Joe Alexander’s layup, after which Wade made just one of two foul shots.
Instead of attempting a tying three-pointer, Ridnour drove in for a layup with 9.8 seconds left to make it a one-point game and Cook boosted the lead back to three with two more foul shots.
Joe Alexander’s bid to tie it at the buzzer failed to hit the rim.
