NHL: St. Louis 5, Boston 4 (SO)
A shootout goal by T.J. Oshie handed the St. Louis Blues a 5-4 win over the Boston Bruins Monday.
Oshie scored what turned out to be the game-winner when he faked a wrist shot and slid a low backhander past Bruins goalie Tim Thomas in the first shootout round.
David Perron, David Backes each had a goal and an assist for the Blues, who had lost three of their previous four.
Chris Mason came on in relief of Manny Legace — who left the game in the first period with a lower body injury — and stopped 21-of-24 shots.
P.J. Axelsson and Zdeno Chara each had a goal and an assist for Boston. Thomas finished with 27 saves for the Bruins, who have dropped two straight.
The Bruins lead the Eastern Conference with 71 points, while St. Louis is at the bottom of the Western Conference with 40 points.
