January 21, 2009

Mike Ribeiro scored the game’s last three goals for the first hat trick of his career Wednesday, boosting Dallas to a 4-1 win over Florida.

Mike Modano produced the Stars’ first goal and Marty Turco made 27 saves, giving Dallas a win in two of its final three games prior to the All-Star break.

Ribeiro tipped in a shot by James Neal with 32 seconds remaining in the second period, breaking a 1-1 tie. He then put a wrist shot past Tomas Vokoun 3:45 into the third and tacked on an empty netter with 26 seconds remaining.

Karlis Skrastins delivered Florida’s only goal. The Panthers had earned at least a point in their first eight games of 2009, going 5-0-3 before Wednesday’s loss. Florida goes into the break with 50 points, one behind Carolina for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Ribeiro became the fifth Dallas player to record a hat trick this season.
