University of Miami guard Rios arrested
Suspended Miami Hurricanes point guard Eddie Rios has been arrested on burglary charges, a university official said Thursday.
UM sports spokeswoman Margaret Belch said Rios was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail Wednesday, but was freed on bail, The Miami Herald reported.
Rios was arrested in Coral Gables, Fla., on charges of third-degree grand theft and burglary of an unoccupied property. University officials had no comment on the arrest and accompanying charges. Details regarding the alleged crime committed by Rios were not reported.
Rios was already in trouble with the Hurricanes, having been suspended Jan. 12 for violating team rules.
The indefinite suspension of the former Miami Senior High School standout was related to following team protocol and insufficient communication with the Hurricanes coaching staff, the Herald said.
