NHL: Detroit 4, St. Louis 3 (SO)
Marian Hossa scored two goals in regulation and the game-winner in a shootout Monday, delivering Detroit a 4-3 victory over St. Louis.
Hossa was the third shootout shooter for Detroit and he drove the puck into the top right corner of the net. David Perron had the last chance for St. Louis, but he went too deep before taking his shot and Chris Osgood made an easy save.
Kirk Maltby had Detroit’s other goal. Osgood had 30 saves for the Red Wings, who have a nine-point lead over Chicago for first place in the NHL Central Division and trail San Jose by six points for first place overall in the Western Conference.
Barret Jackman, Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie each scored for the Blues. Manny Legace started the game, but was pulled after giving up three goals on eight shots. Chris Mason got the loss despite stopping all 13 shots he faced in regulation.
