NBA: Denver 114, Oklahoma City 113

February 4, 2009

Carmelo Anthony made a layup with 5 seconds remaining Wednesday that delivered Denver a 114-113 victory over Oklahoma City.

Anthony scored 32 points in what was Denver’s sixth win in seven games. The Nuggets scraped out a victory despite the absences of Kenyon Martin (flu) and Chauncey Billups (sprained ankle).

The Nuggets also got 22 points from J.R. Smith and 20 from Nene while defeating the Thunder for the eighth time in their last 10 meetings.

Oklahoma City was led by Kevin Durant with 31 points, but he missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer. Durant put Oklahoma City ahead by a point with 17.2 seconds to play, setting up Anthony’s game-winning shot.

Denver overcame a 17-point, first-half deficit.
