A muscular lower body injury has sidelined Carolina Hurricanes' captain Rod Brind'Amour at least one game, the Raleigh News & Observer reported.
Hurricanes Coach Paul Maurice told the newspaper Thursday that the injury isn't related to the center's recurring knee problems.
Roddy has a nagging injury that's not getting any better, so we're sending him (to Raleigh),
Maurice said.
We want him to get some treatment the next four or five days.
Carolina, on a three-game western road swing, plays its next two games at San Jose and Phoenix following a 4-3 loss at Vancouver Tuesday night.
Brind'Amour, playing his 20th NHL season, has totaled 29 points (eight goals and 21 assists) in 52 games.
In unrelated player moves, the Hurricanes recalled forward Jakub Petruzalek from Albany of the American Hockey League and placed forward Scott Walker on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
