Gonzalez, Robredo semifinalists in Chile

Fernando Gonzalez and Tommy Robredo, the tournament’s top two seeds, reached the semifinals Friday at the Movistar Open in Vina del Mar, Chile.

Gonzalez, the defending champion, coasted to a 6-0, 6-2 victory Juan Monaco in a rematch of last year’s final. Looking for his fourth title at this event, Gonzalez will take on Pablo Cuevas in the semifinals after Cuevas defeated Paul Capdeville 7-5, 7-5.

Robredo battled back to defeat Juan Ignacio Chela 0-6, 6-3, 6-4. Jose Acasuso set up a semifinal meeting with Robredo by defeating Sebastian Decoud 6-4, 6-2.

Acasuso won this tournament three years ago.
