COL BKB: Purdue 61, Penn State 47

JuJuan Johnson's 14 points and 13 rebounds Wednesday fueled No. 23 Purdue's 61-47 win over Big Ten foe Penn State.

Purdue, which was beaten by Penn State 67-64 on Jan. 6, ended its two-game losing streak after an 18-2 run opening the second half led to a 46-29 advantage.

Johnson's jumper with 12:49 remaining capped the run. Also, Bobby Riddell scored eight points of his career-high 13 points during the surge.

Purdue's lead was just 28-26 at the break, but after its surge, the closest PSU came was 54-43 on Jamelle Cornley's free throw with 6:44 left.

Nemanja Calasan scored 12 with three rebounds.

E'Twaun Moore scored 10 with three rebounds, and Johnson added four blocked shots for the Boilermakers (18-6, 7-4), who again played without forward Robbie Hummel (lower back stress fracture).

Cornley's 16 points with three rebounds led the Nittany Lions (17-8, 6-6).

No other player reached double figures in Penn State's third straight loss.
