Sidney Crosby produced the only goal in an overtime shootout Wednesday, lifting Pittsburgh to a 2-1 win over San Jose.

Crosby’s goal came to open the third round when he put a wrist shot through the pads of Brian Boucher.

Dan Boyle then missed the net on his backhand try, giving Pittsburgh its third win in four games.

Pittsburgh’s only regulation goal came from Bill Thomas and Marc-Andre Fleury made 36 saves.

San Jose, losers of three out of four, got a goal from Joe Pavelski. The Sharks had downed the Penguins in their previous five meetings. Pittsburgh had not beaten San Jose since early in the 2002-03 season.
