Johnson wins rain-shortened Pebble Beach
PGA officials called off Monday’s weather-delayed final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, giving Dustin Johnson the tournament victory.
Sunday’s round was also lost to weather. Officials delayed the start of Monday’s play once but then called off the event when heavy rains drenched greens and rain filled the forecasts.
Johnson shot a 5-under-par 67 on Saturday to take the 54-hole lead. He finished at 15-under 201, four strokes ahead of runner-up Mike Weir. Retief Goosen was third at 10-under and Bob Estes and Mark Calcavecchia tied for fourth at 9-under.
The win was the second for the 24-year-old Johnson. He also won last year’s Turning Stone Resort Championship.
Weather Sunday caused six hours of delays before play was suspended and a Monday finish called for. But rain continued, with four greens determined to be unplayable, and more was forecast through the day.
