A. Radwanska upset by U. Radwanska

Ninth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska was upset by her sister, Urszula Radwanska, in first-round play Monday at the $2 million Dubai Tennis Championships.


Urszula Radwanska defeated her sister, who is ranked No. 10 in the world, 6-4, 6-3 in the first on-court meeting since Urszula turned pro. Agnieszka Radwanska managed to break her younger sister’s serve just once in the match.


While most of the action Monday was in the first round, seventh-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova was ousted 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 by Elena Vesnina and eighth-seeded Ana Ivanovic defeated Alisa Kleybanova 7-5, 6-4 in second-round matches.


In another first-round upset, Ayumi Morita beat 15th-seeded Anna Chakvetadze 7-5, 6-2. No 10-seeded Alize Cornet stopped Anna-Lena Groenefeld 6-4, 6-1, while 11th-seeded Marion Bartoli edged Ai Sugiyama 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), No. 12-seeded Dominika Cibulkova breezed past Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-2 and 14th-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues ousted Andreja Klepac 6-3, 6-1 in first-round matches.


Also winning Monday were: Daniela Hantuchova, Virginie Razzano, Camille Pin, Samantha Stosur, Alona Bondarenko, Sania Mirza, Monica Niculescu and Francesca Schiavone.


A total of 14 second-round matches are set for Tuesday, including appearances by another pair of sisters, top-seeded Serena Williams and sixth-seeded Venus Williams.
