COL BKB: UCLA 85, Washington 76

Josh Shipp scored 20 points Thursday and No. 15 UCLA used a late 6-0 run to pull away for a crucial 85-76 victory over 19th-ranked Washington.

The Bruins owned only a two-point lead when they ran off the six consecutive points. That run ended with Darren Collison hitting two free throws that gave UCLA a 77-69 lead with 1:41 to play.

Washington's fate was sealed when, trailing by six, the Huskies' Jon Brockman missed two foul shots with 41 seconds remaining.

The result further tightened the Pacific-10 Conference race. Washington now holds a half game lead over UCLA, California and Arizona State.

Collison added 17 for the Bruins (20-6, 9-4 Pac-10). They hit eight 3-point shots and missed just three times in 18 trips to the line.

Washington (19-7, 10-4) was led by Justin Dentmon with 22 and Brockman with 16.
