Darren Fletcher’s family robbed

Police in England say hooded men kicked in the door of soccer player Darren Fletcher's home and robbed his family at knife point.

Monday night's home invasion was the latest in a series against the homes of British soccer players known to be away playing teams in other countries, reported The Daily Telegraph.

Fletcher, 25, who plays for Manchester United, had left for Italy earlier in the day.

Three hooded men burst into the home, threatening Hayley Grice, Fletcher's fiancee and also threatening Fletcher's mother, who was staying at the mansion in Bowdon, Greater Manchester, police said, noting the couple's young twin sons also were in the home but unharmed.

The thieves took Grice's engagement ring and numerous watches and pieces of jewelry before fleeing in a car from the home, located in a village where a number of professional soccer players live, police said.
