ACC Tournament to sell tickets to public
The ACC has become the first conference to announce a plan to make its tournament tickets available to the general public.
The league's annual tournament, the oldest in college hoops, is scheduled for March 12-15 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga.
The four-day, 11-game event seats 36,000 for basketball, but the league did not disclose figures for the number of general public tickets for sale starting next Monday.
It will be the first time since 1966 there has been a public sale of ACC Tournament tickets and the declined state of the economy spurred the action.
Due to the unique combination of playing this year's tournament in a dome during very trying economic times, our league has the opportunity to offer a public sale of ACC Tournament tickets, ACC Commissioner John Swofford said in a statement Tuesday.
Playing in the Georgia Dome provides a great stage for our conference teams and Atlanta has been a terrific partner.
