NHL: Philadelphia 2, Los Angeles 0
Martin Biron recorded the 25th shutout of his career Wednesday by stopping 34 shots in Philadelphia's 2-0 victory over Los Angeles.
Jeff Carter had a goal and an assist, helping the Flyers to their seventh win in nine games. They moved within four points of Atlantic Division-leading New Jersey.
Carter ran his goal total for the season to 36, second in the league to Washington's Alex Ovechkin (44).
Erik Ersberg made 18 saves for the Kings, who have lost six of eight. They played the second game in a five-game road trip.
Carter broke the scoreless tie with 3:49 left in the second period. He was able to shove the puck past Ersberg during a goalmouth scramble while the Flyers were on the power play.
It remained a 1-0 game until Simon Gagne scored into an empty net in the final seconds.
