NBA: San Antonio 99, Portland 84
Tony Parker again picked up the slack for injury-riddled San Antonio Wednesday, scoring 39 points in the Spurs’ 99-84 win over Portland.
With Manu Ginobili out for at least two more weeks with an ankle injury and center Tim Duncan suffering a sore right quadriceps muscle, Parker has been called upon to carry the load.
He scored 37 points in a win over Dallas Tuesday and hit 17-of-27 shots from the field against the Trail Blazers. Matt Bonner chipped in 15 points for the Spurs, winners of four straight.
After winning three in a row, Portland has dropped two consecutive games. Channing Frye led the Trail Blazers with 15 points.
San Antonio closed the game with an 11-1 run, seven of those points coming from Parker. The Spurs hit 53 percent of its field goal attempts.
