NBA: LA Clippers 93, Boston 91
Zach Randolph’s layup with 19 seconds to play put Los Angeles in front Wednesday and the Clippers pulled off an unlikely 93-91 victory over Boston.
With Kevin Garnett out of action and Paul Pierce in and out of the game with a bruised hand, Boston wilted down the stretch in the finale of a six-game road trip. The Celtics saw their lead over Cleveland dwindle to two games in the battle for the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Randolph scored 30 points and his offensive rebound led to a basket that gave the Clippers a 92-91 lead.
Pierce then missed a jumper and Randolph made 1-of-2 from the line to put the Clippers in front by two with 5 seconds to go. Boston’s Rajon Rondo promptly turned the ball over, leaving the Clippers with only their 15th win of the season.
Pierce scored 20 to lead the Celtics, who let a seven-point lead early in the fourth quarter slip away.
