Yao Ming scored 28 points Thursday night and the Houston Rockets finished off a perfect six-game homestand by downing Cleveland 93-74.

The Cavaliers struggled through a difficult night, during which Ben Wallace suffered a broken right fibula and superstar LeBron James failed to make an impact.

Yao hit 13-of-15 shots from the field, but the key numbers in the game reflected Cleveland’s futility on offense. The Cavaliers managed only 11 points in the opening period and just 10 in the third — and their 74 points were a season low, as was their 33 percent shooting effort from the field.

James scored 21 points, but he pulled down only one rebound and he was held without an assist for the first time in his NBA career.

Wallace broke his right fibula in the second period as he contested Yao for a rebound and Yao’s foot landed on Wallace’s right leg.

There was no immediate word as to how long Wallace will be out of action. He was averaging only three points and six rebounds a game.

Cleveland had a five-game winning streak come to an end.
