Anze Kopitar tied the game with 13 seconds left in regulation Thursday and Michal Handzus scored 1:31 into overtime, giving Los Angeles a 5-4 win over Dallas.

The Stars appeared to have the game in hand, owning a two-goal advantage as time wound down but Handzus scored on the power play with 3:18 to go and Kopitar tied it with another power-play tally against Marty Turco.

Handzus completed the rally with a backhander that eluded Turco and gave the Kings an unexpected two points.

Although they had to settle for one point, the Stars moved into a tie with Edmonton and Anaheim for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

After a scoreless first period, the teams combined for six goals in the second. Steve Ott, returning from a one-game suspension, gave Dallas a 4-2 lead with 14 seconds remaining in the period.

Erik Ersberg started for the Kings and allowed four goals on 16 shots. Jonathan Quick replaced him and needed to make only three saves to get the win.
