Pro Bowl will return to Hawaii
Local officials agreed Friday to a proposal by the NFL that will return the Pro Bowl to Hawaii in 2011.
The all-star game ended a 30-year run in Honolulu this year and will be played in Miami next season one week prior to the Super Bowl.
The NFL, however, offered Honolulu a two-year deal that could be the prelude to rotating the Pro Bowl to cities around the country. The Hawaii Tourism Authority, which had the final say on the contract, twice turned down the proposal.
Under mounting pressure from city officials and local football fans, the board changed its mind Friday. Details of the contract have not been made final, but the deal ensures Hawaii will host the game in 2011 and 2012.
