Yang has third-round Honda Classic lead
Y.E. Yang played even-par golf Saturday but stayed in the lead after three rounds of the PGA Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Yang’s best PGA Tour finish was a tie for eighth at the 2008 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Saturday he shot 70 to finish 54 holes at 7-under 203 to hold a one-stroke edge going into Sunday’s final round.
Jeff Klauk (67) and Jeff Overton (70) share second place at 6-under 204. None of the top three players has won on the PGA Tour.
Charlie Wi (65) moved up from a share of 27th to a tie for fourth at 205. He is tied with Brett Quigley (67) and John Rollins (68). Rollins is the only player in the top six who has won a PGA Tour event.
I noticed that the winds were very strong, and I anticipated it being a very difficult round today,
said Yang, who beat Tiger Woods at the 2007 HSBC Champions on the European Tour.
