Baylor, Texas win at the Big 12 Tournament

Posted on: Thursday, 12 March 2009, 17:41 CDT

LaceDarius Dunn sank four 3-pointers in the first half Thursday when Baylor stunned 11th-ranked Kansas, 71-64, in the Big 12 quarterfinals at Oklahoma City.

Dunn, a reserve, led the winners with 24 points, six rebounds and three steals.

His 3-pointer gave Baylor a 65-58 lead with 3:41 remaining and quelled a Kansas rally from a 17-point first-half deficit, 30-13.

Kevin Rogers scored 14 with five rebounds, while Curtis Jerrells added 10 with six rebounds and three assists for the Bears (19-13), who went just 5-11 in conference games in the regular season.

Sherron Collins led the reigning national champions with 16 points, four rebounds and six assists.

Tyshawn Taylor and Marcus Morris scored 12 points apiece for the top-seeded Jayhawks (25-7), who became just the second top seed to lose its opening game in the Big 12 Tournament. No. 1-seeded Iowa State lost to Baylor in 2001.
