Haynesworth indicted on traffic charges

Washington defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has been indicted on misdemeanor driving charges related to a December accident in Tennessee.

The mammoth 6-foot-6 inch, 320-pounder was playing for the Tennessee Titans when he was charged with reckless driving and having an expired registration.

He was indicted in Williamson County.

Reckless driving carries a maximum punishment of six months in jail and a $500 fine. He could receive another 30 days in jail and $50 fine for the other charge.

Reports have said Haynesworth attempted to pass another vehicle, but the driver had to take evasive action, lost control, then crashed into the concrete median.

Corey Edmondson, 25, of Antioch, Tenn., suffered severe injuries that left him disabled after the Dec.13 accident on Interstate-65 in Brentwood.

The Tennessean reported Edmondson is recovering from two surgeries, including a hip replacement.

His attorney said Edmondson’s medical bills could total $350,000.

Haynesworth, 27, signed a seven-year, $100 million contract in February with the Redskins of which $41 million is guaranteed.
