Arizona State ousts Huskies in Pac-10
James Harden scored 24 points Friday and No. 23 Arizona State let a 21-point lead get away before downing No. 10 Washington 75-67 in the Pac-10 semifinals.
The Sun Devils (24-8) will play for the league’s automatic NCAA Tournament berth Saturday against either UCLA or USC.
It will be Arizona State’s first appearance in the Pac-10 tournament final.
Washington defeated the Sun Devils in their two regular-season meetings and appeared ready to do so again after coming back from a huge deficit in the first half to take a two-point lead with 6:15 to play.
Arizona State, however, outscored the Huskies the rest of the way 17-5.
Jeff Pendergraph added 18 points for the Sun Devils and Derek Glasser had 16.
Washington, which is certain to receive an at-large NCAA tourney berth with its 25-8 record, was led by Jon Brockman with 13 points.
