Martin has died of unknown causes in Florida, police say.
The muscular, 6-foot-6, 280-pound Martin was found dead in his apartment in Harbour Island Friday night, just four days short of his 34th birthday, the Tampa Tribune reported.
He had written on his MySpace web page that he was leaving Monday for a two-week trip to Europe, making stops in France, Sweden and Belgium.
The Tribune's report said police do not suspect foul play.
Tampa police said about 8 p.m. local time Friday, they went to Martin's apartment after a neighbor had told them she could see in his apartment through a window and that he appeared motionless for several hours.
Officers found him dead when they arrived.
Martin often was portrayed as a bad guy among wrestling fans, but was cheered when his character proposed
to wrestling executive Stephanie McMahon.
On the Internet this weekend, hundreds of fans have posted positive tribute videos and messages.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of his death.
