Mets sign Nathan’s to Citi Field dog deal
The New York Mets announced a deal with Nathan’s Famous Monday that will bring the Big Apple’s famed hot dogs to the new Citi Field ballpark.
The familiar and alluring scent of Nathan’s dogs and crinkle-cut fries will be part of the atmosphere when the Mets christen their new home stadium on April 13, the team said in a written statement.
Nathan’s originated in Brooklyn during World War I and quickly became a fixture at Coney Island and the rest of the city. The company’s products are now sold nationwide.
Based upon our heritage, it seems fitting and we are truly honored to have been named as the official hot dog and as the official french fry of the New York Mets,
said Nathan’s Chief Executive Officer Eric Gatoff.
The Mets said the deal includes signage and brand promotion by stadium hawkers. Citi Field will also host an official run-up event
to the hot dog eating contest Nathan’s stages at Coney Island every Fourth of July.
