COL BKB: Tulsa 68, Northwestern 59
Jerome Jordan scored 16 points Wednesday and Tulsa fought off a Northwestern comeback bid for a 68-59 NIT victory over the Wildcats.
The Golden Hurricane took a 60-49 lead with 7:28 to play on a basket by Glenn Andrews, but Tulsa did not score again until less than 2 minutes remained. Northwestern was able to cut its deficit to only three points, however, before Tulsa finally pulled away down the stretch.
Ben Uzoh made four free throws in the final 21 seconds to preserve the lead.
Tulsa won the NIT championship in 2001 and this was its first victory in the tournament since then.
Northwestern was led by Craig Moore and Kevin Coble with 17 points each.
Tulsa will next face Auburn, which held off Tennessee-Martin, on Wednesday.
